Mannford is located south of Lake Keystone where Highway 48 intersects Highway 51. It is known as the "striped bass capital of the world."

Mannford took its name from Mann's Ford across the Cimarron River adjoining the townsite. When Lake Keystone was built around 1960 Mannford was relocated southward in order to put the town out of reach of rising lake water.
