The community of Glenpool began almost instantaneously when the Ida Glenn #1 well struck oil on November 22, 1905. The great influx of entrepreneurs to Tulsa began on that day. There will soon be an oil museum erected in Glenpool to commemorate this historical event. The Glenn Pool is still in production today and remains one of the most famous oil fields in the world.
According to 2006 census estimates the population of Glenpool in 2006 was 9,160, with 8.61% population growth. This makes Glenpool the 51st fastest growing city in Oklahoma.
